Just rediscovered a box of old certificates, some going back more than 100 years, given to me by a friend who had no interest in them. I know some have value, but there are many I couldn't identify.
One of the certificates is listed @ $395, while others are in the $20 to $50 range.
My friend, since passed away, received them from his own father who had been a broker in the Chicago Market in the 1920' and 30's.

Wondering if anyone here has had experience in collecting or buying and selling.

Are these stock certificates ?

Here is hoping you find out you are a millionaire.... :D

Basically you can trace down how much they are worth over the decades due to sales, splits, take-overs, bankruptcy, etc...

The actual company may no longer exist, but it is possible the company was absorbed by some other company.

Here is a link to get started...
How to Trace Old Stocks - Budgeting Money

Assuming they are old worthless stocks issued from the 20s and 30s and you are trying to determine a collectible value....EBay is a good source as well as Heritage Auctions (HA.com)....you can search past sales and auctions at either/both sites.
