Will watch at home. Read an interesting article on the company's recent doings in a homebrewing magazine. They have always been fanatical about quality and it shows in their products.

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, one of my favorites. Of course, Fat Tire is also good...........

Fritz Maytag in that clip is from the Maytag Appliance family. I kinda knew the story, but I found this from wikipedia, and it fills in a bit of the admiration you see in this clip:

There was a cool Sierra Nevada story on one of the homebrewing forums. A homebrewer had moved to Japan and couldn't get Sierra Nevada Pale Ale there. He contacted their brewer, and the guy actually spent a lot of time helping him perfect the recipe at a homebrew level. That thread is like 47 pages long. It's actually a pretty simple recipe, so I guess you need to get the details right. I've made it a couple times and was pretty happy with the result. I bet they sold a lot of SNPA to guys like me, picking up a six pack to compare side-by-side!

ERD, if you can find it in your market, try the Glissade spring seasonal. It is a simply amazing liquid panty remover beer.

Thanks, I just checked and a local store carries it. I love a good Bock/DoppleBock/MaiBock. Will give it a taste.

Other fave darks:
Moose Drool (Big Sky Brewing) - but we can't get it in TX.
Sometimes can find Wee Heavy by Belhaven in TX - yes!

Heh, Spaten. They make what I consider to be the best oktoberfest in the world. For a while their importer in the US was a smallish beer distributor in Queens,NY not far from where we live. We got the freshest stuff off the boat for like 4 bucks a six pack.

Well Spaten come a long way since in terms of US distribution. To our undying gratitude, Spaten beers are widely available in TX, which is saying a lot, considering how many fantastic domestic brews are not available.

Thanks for the tip. Ran some errands today, so I picked up a six-pack ($8.99, not bad for a maibock). Had one with dinner, and I agree, really excellent. mmmmm, malty, but not overwhelming in any way - just a really great maibock. Looking forward to the next five.
DW had a sip and really liked it too, ummm, probably not enough to affect panty attachment, but....

Heya was anyone at Dark Lord Day in Munster, IN this weekend? Crazy crowd but good time. I still haven't perfected my Dark Lord recipe but I'll keep working on it, I don't get many iterations in since it takes so long to age out.
