So long. This is my last post.

The new oblivion post limit of 2000 which marks some sort of poster nirvana has made me realize that it is time to move on. I have decided not to exceed the limit and become one of “them”. I pride myself in sticking it to “da man” – not becoming “da man”. I’ve always been more effective working from the outside. Besides, I probably said all I had to say about 1998 posts ago. I’ve really enjoyed this forum and got a lot of useful information from all of you. I’ve gained great respect for so many of you. Thanks. Have a great retirement. Good-bye.

You realize that everybody gets a surprise visit from Vida Guerra when they hit 2K, right?

SG, you are one of the many people who I would like to continue seeing around here. I guess I don't really understand the motivation for thresholds and discontinuities. Unless this board is at all times worse than your next worst choice of how to spend a little time, why leave?

Re: So long. This is my last post.

I thought SG was a young girl from Kansas and caused TH (CFB) to issue a death threat to me and rinse himself in acid.

Maybe it's a puberty thing. I doubt even a visit from Vida will suffice.

Good bye SG. You have set a high standard for the rest of us. I'll always think of you as the anti-da-man.
I don't totally agree when you say you probably said all you had to say 1998 posts ago.

Well, that's the way things happen; posters go and new posters come.

Maddy - thats why he's leaving. The bank has foreclosed, he's lost the roof over his head and he's decided to join up with JG and make a cowboy movie. Due to the similarility in last names ("G") I've long suspected they were actually married offline.

Good one SG

SG, if you persist with multiple identities we'll be forced to give th (I mean CFB) access to the IP logs so he can ferret out such posters. (The guy already thinks there are only 3 or 4 individuals that post here--all using multiple accounts.)

Re: So long. This is my last post.

I have unilaterally changed the cutoff point to 1902 posts. Anything over that now loses the post count.

Re: So long. This is my last post.

Dont try to fool me with that '3 or 4' stuff. Its just me and you, mister...

Actually I think theres one or two guys with brain problems that like to stir things up. Thats all.

I think they're pretty obvious when they show up, have nothing whatsoever to say about early retirement, and their first 5 posts are some inflamatory story where they're persistently antagonistic. Or the folks that show up once or twice a year, start a SWR or mortgage thread and then seep back into the earth.

Or maybe we're just some weird sinkhole for trolls. When I moderated a board with ~115,000 users, we'd get a bonafide troll maybe a couple of times a year. Seems like we get them almost every week here.

And the post counts are still there...you can still see them in the user stats page and on each users individual profile page. Screening them from the post display pages is a good start, but wouldnt solve the recent problem that seems to have solved itself...

Sheesh! Make a change and get complaints and users leaving. Hiding the counts in the profiles, stats, memberlists and such would be too much work. It wll be far easier to rename everybody "Jennifer" and then post counts wouldn't matter because we're all Jennifer.

Shut up, Jennifer.
