I understand your viewpoint, and preservation of life in most instances would be the preferential choice. But in my opinion bullets shot from a 107 year old man, or a
mentally unstable person are just as deadly as they are from anyone else. I guess my viewpoint is more like the 97 year old man last year in Kentucky who shot and killed one of the two thieves who broke into his house. He said his only regret he had about the situation was that the other thief didn't come up the stairs and get what he deserved too.

The militarization of the police is a strange phenomena, probably best to turn it around folks!

Seriously if a guy opened fire on you, trying with deadly force to cause you or others harm, would you question their age, mental state, or if they were having a bad day? Remember you have around 50 milliseconds to choose, about you and the publics best interest. If there's a better way, PM me and we can be way more than FI. (I call dibs on sitting next to Buffet)

FYI I'm not nor have I or other family acted as L.E. but I can understand.

But, LE were the ones who put themselves in that position in this case... from the little that I can read, the suspect did not have any hostages at the time... the suspect was not firing on LE.... it was LE who initiated the gas, the flash grenade and the entry into the property.... then he started to shoot again...

I am not excusing his earlier shooting.... he should be charges with the crimes he committed...

Geez man - don't you get it? The officers didn't have the time to wait around for oldPa to fall asleep - budget crisis, overtime pay. OlPa, at 107, probably didn't have much time left either...
