Jeff Beck is unreal!

A recent acquisition, courtesy of a local pawn shop. It didn't "feel" hot... :P

awesome! I checked a couple of local pawn shops and all I saw were some low end stuff and a couple of Mexican Fender starts that were priced as high as new.

Thanks, having fun with it so far.

Similar to you I played (bass) when I was younger. Fast forward 30 years, I started getting back into music about a year ago and have been buying far too many lower end basses and fixing them up to be great players. I’ve been wanting a guitar as well for awhile and Black Friday was the day!

I cannot overemphasize the value of a good setup with good strings on a guitar. I did a rough first setup on the Casino yesterday and the difference in playability was astounding. If you are a DIY type this video series by John Carruthers is very helpful:

Setting Up Your Guitar

I bought D’addario jazz flats for my guitar, they are excellent in tone and feel but might not be what you want for the Tele.

Enjoy!

I've bought a number of pawn shop specials, but I agree with your observation. I've seen Squiers and Epiphones priced near new retail... but the occasional deal comes along. That Strat cost me $500+tax.
