I heard Stephen Hawking's comments on his zero gravity experience the other day. Nothing against Mr. Hawking, but can't someone come up with a more pleasing electronic voice for him? I have heard this same computer voice for the past twenty years. Is that the best that can be done for him?

It is almost demeaning to subject this brilliant man to a voice like that. Surely, there is something else more appropriate.

I think I recall him saying that someone had offered him an upgraded voice at one point, but it didn't sound like "his" voice to him anymore, so he stuck with the old Votrax (or whatever it is) voice.

After all of this time that voice is an easily identifiable part of Stephen Hawkings persona. I hope he doesn't change it.

I agree.. that is HIS voice... no need to change...

How would you like it if someone said they don't like your voice and wanted to change it:confused:

The Soundblaster card in my old computer had text-to-speech software that sounded similar to Hawking's "voice". Hilarious listening to it read porn... :p
