Studs Terkel

Studs Terkel, the ageless master of listening and speaking, a broadcaster, activist and Pulitzer Prize-winning author whose best-selling oral histories celebrated the common people he liked to call the "non-celebrated," died Friday. He was 96.

I loved that book, "Working." More timely than ever now -- I'm gonna see if I can find it in the library and give it another read.

I loved that book, too. I'll request it from the library. What a good life, long lived.

The book I remember from him is "Division Street America", not mentioned in the news reports. Real insight into Chicago, miss him and Mike Royko, if anyone remembers him.

I was so sad to hear this (NPR, driving the kids home from the zoo), but then realized the man was in his mid-90's.

If anyone left behind a life well-lived, he appeared to. I also suspect that he would have enjoyed interviewing the guy who dug his grave (assuming he was buried).
