Subaru

DanTien....you have been good luck for me...I sold my painting Blue Rhapsody this morning.....thanks!

Just to add a small dose of reality........while I love the concept of the Subaru, my 2006
Outback 3.0R wagon has been back to the dealer......
3 times for non-functioning A/C------turned out to be the wrong gasket and not recognized until the 3rd visit by a 2nd dealer
1 time for slow loss of power steering fluid......new rack and pinion
1 time for badly worn tires (<7.5K miles)........alignment
1 time for slow loss of coolant...........probably still not fully resolved

To Subaru's credit, all work has been free under warranty but I am quite disappointed
in the numerous problems. It is US built so possibly that explains part of the problems.
I am hopeful that this is an exception and that the engine is sound but when compared
to DW's 2004 Camry that has never been taken in except for periodic maintenance, it has been an eye opener for me.

Every manfacturer makes mistakes. Had our honda in three times in the first 6 months.

FWIW, I think subaru puts on crappy stock tires. When I replaced the oem tires with good quality michelins, it was a big difference.

sorry to hear of your misfortune with the outback 3.0...outbacks are put together in Fort Wayne, Ind. of Japanese and other country parts...We had good experiences with our 2 2.5 Outbacks....only scheduled maintenance...the Impreza is full-blooded Japanese...fingers crossed they can at least match our good experience with the outbacks..all 3 cars the fit and finish is excellent...

Are there any Gay, Lesbian, Bi, Trans people on the forum that don't own a Subaru? :)

Repairs.... Yeah, like I said, we got ours with about 27k on it. Before 40k it needed a new set of gaskets (rear seal, front seal). About a week later, the starter went out. Don't know if it sat on the lot for too long or what. Doubtful.

So, the extended warranty, for $1k, was about a break-even "investment" after that point.

2.2L 4-banger's been rock solid ever since. *knock on wood*

Discovered that the Impreza has a computer screen that keeps track of the on-going MPG - entertaining myself trying to goose the mileage....
