I don't have or buy much stuff in the first place.
If I don't use it, I give it away to someone who can.
If I can't give it away, I donate it to the thrift store.
If I can't donate it, I recycle it.
If I can't recycle it, I try to burn it.
If I burn it, I take the ashes and put them in my garden area.
If I'm lucky and diligent, I get vegetables from the garden area.
The stuff that doesn't fit in the above process gets thrown away. I have a large curbside trash can (45 gallon, I think) that I take to the curb about twice a year.
