Taleb is not saying anything new. Nor is he saying anything sensible - he's just trying to be a provocative follower of the "bash big bad megacorp" trend. Importantly, he fails to mention that for all the angst about today's workers being "slaves", we are a lot better off than people in our demographic ....

In my personal case, I was a willing and enthusiastic participant in living in the gilded cage that my employer provided me.
I gave him my time, energy and smarts for over 30 years. I was on demand 24/7/365. I had to travel internationally 200 days a year.
He owned me outright. When he said 'jump', I said 'how high, sir?'
But...in addition to a generous paycheck, he gave me company paid first class travel, five star hotels, meals, entertainment and luxury cars, vacations and time off to some of the most exotic places on earth. Plus the ability to RE comfortably. (and I'm not even telling half the story)
Were there bad days? Sure, but did I ever once consider leaving his employ? Did I ever feel bad about our arrangement? Did I ever feel taken advantage of?
Not once in 30 years did the idea ever enter my head.
I realize my story is an exception, but...yeah, I was owned by my company and wouldn't have had it any other way. It was the sweetest deal anyone could've imagined.
