The 3:33:33 Whoop

I thought this was done on any day prior to a holiday? I Googled this and all I can find is that this is done just on a Friday when there is a 3 day holiday. Has anyone ever worked on Wall Street and knows which is correct?

I think the 3:33:33 Whoop has stopped. I say this because when the IPO listing of Facebook went to the NASDAQ on 4/5, which was a Thursday and the day before Good Friday, the NYSE had fully expected to get the listing. Art Cashin (UBS Director of Floor Operations at the NYSE) was so pissed off he dictated that there would be no 3:33:33 Whoop that day.... and there wasn't.

I think it's a neat tradition and I always look forwards to it but they did not do it today (but it's not a Friday or a 3 day weekend), they did not do it before Labor day on 8/31 (which was on a Friday and a 3 day weekend), I am sure they did not for the 4th of July (which was not on a Friday or a 3 day weekend) but I can't remember what happened for 5/25 the Friday before Memorial Day.

Anyone know for sure? Yes, I have no life!
