Jet stream is pretty week allowing blocking systems to set up. Same thing that shove Sandy into the east coast. Warmer weather gets further north and stays longer, colder weather gets further south and stays there for longer.
It will pass

I saw a headline yesterday that read "Is Punxsutawney Phil a Liar?" lol.
The crocus pushed up on Friday and now have snow on their heads. Spring should follow soon!

Spring?
Hey, it hit 101 here yesterday late afternoon!
But with 25% humidity and a light breeze it was quite comfortable in the shade. We attended an outdoor pizza party with portable brick oven catering. Lovely time and beautiful evening.
It's only supposed to get up to 79 today . We have a cold front with strong north winds coming through right now.

Supposed to get 6 inches of snow today. Last year March netted me 12 days over 80 degrees. This year maybe 1 or 2 above 60.

If one can believe what radar shows, the snow currently stretches from Illinois to Colorado. Holy tomato, Batman!

We're getting typical March weather...it warms up to low 40s, then it snows a few inches, warms up again, then snows again. The good news is the net snow depth is decreasing. I can see bare spots around the edge of the driveway. I unplugged the roof heating wires.
The big difference is we are getting more sunshine.
I'll be getting outside soon to get a jump on natural tanning and stimulate some Vitamin D production.

This was yesterday morning out the back door. This is NOT spring weather! In other news, an Ohio prosecutor is seeking an indictment of Punxsutawney Phil for lying. Good. I hope he (Phil) gets life in prison.

Someone came to Phil's defense, saying Phil didn't lie or "perjure himself" but that those interpreting his declaration made a mistake in the interpretation...

Too late. Phil was under so much stress over his botched forecast he could no longer take it...

This is getting ridiculous, the 14th of April should not look like this. Bismarck/Mandan is smack in the middle of a huge band of snow. Could get 12 or more inches before it's done.

I am very sorry about those who are trapped in that stream of wintery storms! That image would be perfect for November...but not now.
When I was 20, I spent a year in Detroit - a friend invited me to a change of scene from California. I remember those snow drifts, and even the cold weather in May!
It seems that, especially this year, Spring will blossom all the sweeter....

Major flooding in Chicagoland. The water in MIL's apt bldg basement was rising and she has evac'd to our house. Her apt will be fine, but her basement storage bin will need some work. NOAA says the river will rise another 5' before it crests around 5 pm tomorrow.

Huge snowstorm here in MN yesterday and last night. My university closed yesterday afternoon, which it rarely does. Can anyone say cabin fever? I'm getting to the point in my life where enduring this lack of sunshine, cold, and treacherous commuting for 6 full months is unbearable. But I still have a ways to go to retirement so I feel trapped, literally.
