Well, I guess winter has arrived. We got 10 inches of snow and this morning the temp was -18 degrees. Fortunately very little wind today.

I see the object that was blocking the earthcam is gone. I looked at the cam a couple of days ago and could not see anything blocking it. The object looked a little like a windshield wiper but I don't know if they have that on the camera

After seeing your post, I guess I can't complain too much about the forecast for the next few days that shows 6-8 inches of snow and a temp that bottoms out at -7.

I'm looking for a contract job in Florida but so far no luck. I can't afford to go unless there's work so I guess i'm stuck with the Wisconsin winter.

About the opposite here. About 50 degrees and very windy today. I've been over to a neighbor's cutting up a bunch of logs for fire wood. This afternoon we will cut some standing dead trees into logs for me. The cold days and nights will be back soon.

Got my snowblower fired up today -- er, technically it's a snow thrower, made by Wisconsin Marine Co. in Lake Mills, Wis., under the Bob-Cat brand. I inherited it from my uncle 21 years ago. I've replaced all the impeller bearings twice, using off-the-shelf parts from my local Farm & Fleet store. It just keeps chugging along...

Don't think I've seen a thrower/blower quite like that with parallel axis second stage or is it a 3 stage machine?

It's two-stage. While it can really throw, the length of the arrangement makes it a little tricky to maneuver so the design lost favor. Some early Simplicity blowers also used the parallel impeller.

This was a commercial-grade machine in its day, although it's on the small side with only 5 hp. I'm guessing it's 30+ years old.

Nodak, You can keep that cold weather right there!

It did look like a windshield wiper; maybe it's a new addition.

Wow, you northerners are really getting hammered! 1600+ flights canceled at Chicago and Detroit according to NBC News.

Since I got my furnace fixed yesterday, today it was in the 70's here... But at least I'm ready for the next blast of cold air.

Agree that it's miserable. .... 44° at 7 am. So glad I don't have to go outside then. ... another FIRE benefit (even though my gas & electric was $70 up from $44 last month)

For those of you in colder areas, stay safe my friends

That's not weather. That's like outer space with air.

I think you're sending your temps our way, Nodak--Looking at a Chicago forecast for Sunday for -2. For the high. I don't know what the wind chill might be as I don't pay attention to them (-2 can stand on its own as damn cold), but c'mon, weather gods--it's only mid-December!

It is supposed to warm up quite a bit next week. We might be in the mid 30s.

Temps are in the 50s today. Unfortunately I think the winds are too.
