Wow, that storm makes the storm i'll be getting tomorrow seem minor. We will be getting 6-10 inches. Luckily I don't have to go anywhere until wednesday afternoon so hopefully most of it will be cleaned up by then.

Another coincidental temperature! Had a walk with my wife this morning. In Bermuda shorts of course.

10"-20" now in the forecast

Geez, what did we do to deserve this? You wouldn't believe the local grocery store today. Total madness.

I guess the good news is that your house gets an "outstanding" on its attic insulation check...

Good observation. First thing after purchase, added 36" to the existing 6". Practice what I preach. Except DW sabotages by keeping thermostat at 74+.

Purron, misery loves company, right? I'm right there with you, bracing for the next onslaught. My biggest hopes right now are the we don't lose power (again) and that we don't have any major house problems. There was a warning today about the possibility of roofs collapsing.

The local weatherman said the road conditions today are the best they are going to be all week.

You must be used to our cold weather. I see people wandering around with sweaters and jackets.

This is a big worry to me. So much heavy snow already and we've already heard of roofs caving in around the area.

What an immense snow storm, or storms, Washington D.C. and nearby regions are experiencing right now! Stay safe and warm, everyone.

The entire OPM website is down except for the notice about not having to work, due to the heavy traffic on that website. I have never known that to happen before.

There's a possibility of ice here on Thursday. Still unusually cool and wet -- Thursday could bring cold rain, freezing rain, sleet and maybe even some snow with a high in the upper 30s and lows in the upper 20s. Good day to hole up and stay inside. El Nino is really screwing with the weather everywhere, it seems.

Icicles Everywhere

I thought this was pretty interesting - by far the most, and biggest, icicles we've ever had.

When I went into the backyard to shoot the photo, I sort of misjudged the depth of the snow where it had drifted. I sunk in well past my knees

Pretty, but that is a nasty looking ice dam above the icicles. Watch for water leakage along that wall.

We've had below normal snowfall her in Michiland, so I was excited when we woke up to about 6 inches of the fluffy stuff. My favorite toy is a small 4WD Kubota tractor. I plowed out the driveways of a few older neighbors, then opened up the road for safe passage. Our largely Republican township is in the far corner of the largely Democratic county and by some strange coincidence, we always get dug out last.

We've only had a few light dustings while the rest of you are getting clobbered.
Looks like it might be our turn next. Very light snow falling now but the fringes of the storm system seem to be drifting toward my area.
