That's what I go through with DW when I want to buy a new toy. I'm getting ready for the modalities of a large screen LCD monitor.

Oh that went easy for me. My wife called me in the car one afternoon and said "Some smoke just came out of the old tv set. I pushed it outdoors into the rain, so that should be okay. Stop at Sams Club and get a new one, willya? Get a big one. Something good. Bye."

No, just par for the current crop of appliances that used to last long past when you hoped they'd die. That was a samsung 50" rear projection crt set. 3 years, one of which it was hardly used. Poof.

Ehhh...I dont think there'll be any shortage of people with government funded digital tv tuners hooked up to an analog set in 2012. Probably still a few with a 75ohm to 300ohm pigtail.
