Types of voting machines affects outcome

http://www.nber.org/papers/w11309

Actually not surprising when you sit and think about it. The type of voting method causes some people to become more likely and some less likely to vote, along with smoothing or rippling error patterns.

Some people dont like or trust "electronic" voting machines, so decided not to vote.

Enough change that it may alter the outcome of some elections.
