Fascinating pics & twist ending!

Here is a far less interesting view of the first pic:

A view of the Monticello Dam "glory hole" on Saturday, October 10, 2009. The crest of the spillway is at 439.96 feet (134.10 m). In this picture, the water level is at 407.72 feet (124.27 m), or 32.24 feet (9.83 m) below the crest.

B. Kliban had a cartoon about the Nixon Monument. (Can't find it right now.)

I found some more info on this. Check out the the part about skate boarders and bikes.

Fogonazos: The largest drain hole in the world

It is fascinating to me, I've never seen anything like this and didn't know such drains existed.
Pretty dangerous way to make a drain system but I guess it works.

The funny part is the description I was reading about it - "The Nixon Monument," showing several lumpen people standing around the edge of a huge black hole or cesspool.
