Walmarts Issues

I find it quite funny that walmart is now worried about its falling sales.

Have you been to your local walmart? Heck the stores from easton Pa to Watchung NJ to Foley Alabama to cary nc to shallote nc are all Dirty, poorly maintained and low prices well not really.

In their supercenters the product line is limited, and their help in the stores is well awful.

Watch how the company starts to look like Kmart and begin closing stores in a few years.

They are too big for their own good.

I now avoid spending and going to my walmart. I will shop at target or my local grocery store .

In my area there are two real options for groceries, Winn Dixie and Walmart. Both are very busy. Winn Dixie you can park close and get through the aisles without too much problem, but the checkout lines are long. Normally the wait to checkout is about 15 minutes. At Walmart there is almost never any parking near the store and the aisles are normally littered with stock and shopping carts. When you get to the checkout line the wait is normally about 30 minutes, even in the under 10 items lines. It took me 35 minutes one time to buy a pack of gum. The only thing that makes Walmart better than Winn Dixie is the price of the products. The way I see it the aggravation and irritation of shopping at Walmart is not worth saving 10-20 dollars off groceries every two weeks.

I shop Super Target & Trader Joes - both have nice ambience good prices and quick checkout.

I've heard that from other people who see one of the local Wally Marts and comment how "clean" it is. Apparently WM has a problem elsewhere in the country with its image and maintenance. I compare prices regularly and I find WM beats everyone around here. The only drawbacks I find are that much of the produce is not of the same quality and freshness as a grocery store and finding a friendly and helpful salesperson can be difficult.

It's not surprising that Walmart is having a problem staffing. Unemployment is below 5% nationally. Here in northern Illinois, help wanted signs are everywhere. You seldom pass a retail outlet, fast food joint or tempory staffing office that doesn't have a help wanted sign in the window. At times like these, burger flippers and shelf stockers are able to upgrade their employment situations.

In general I can buy stapes ie laundry detergent, canned goods etc cheaper with coupons and store brands at the Shop Rite here in New Jersey than the dirty poorly run walmart!

Here the WalMart is quite busy while at the Kmart there are more employees than customers. Prices at the Kmart are higher, even when the items are on sale. I don't understand how the Kmart can stay open. I never have to wait long to check out at WalMart - usually there are one or two checkstands with no customers at them so you can just walk right up and check out.

The reason I shop at Target (while investing in Walmart) is that Walmart
is always packed with people, all lines staffed but still a dozen people long,
while Target is nice and empty, often with no-wait checkout.

This is a copy of an email I received today... don't know if it is true or not.

Wasn't it last Christmas that Target refused to let the Salvation Army
ring their bells in front of their stores?

Dick Forrey of the Vietnam Veterans Association wrote.

"Recently we asked the local TARGET store to be a proud sponsor of the
Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall during our spring recognition event.

We received the following reply from the local TARGET management:

" Veterans do not meet our area of giving. We only donate to the arts,
social action groups, gay & lesbian causes, and education."

So I'm thinking, if the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall and veterans in
general, do not meet their donation criteria, then something is really
wrong at this TARGET store. We were not asking for thousands of
dollars, not even hundreds, just a small sponsorship for a memorial
remembrance.

As a follow-up, I E-mailed the TARGET U.S. Corporate Headquarters and
their response was the same. That's their national policy.

Then I looked into the company further.
They will not allow the Marines to collect for 'Toys for Tots' at any of their stores.
And during the recent Iraq deployment, they would not allow families of
employees who were called up for active duty to continue their
insurance coverage while they were on military service.
Then as I dig further,

TARGET is a French-owned corporation.

Now, I'm thinking again. If TARGET cannot support American Veterans,
then why should my family and I support their stores by spending our
hard earned America! n dollars!

And, have their profits sent to France.

Without the American Vets, where would France be today?

I like Wal-Mart. I needed 2 RXs filled. I checked a local pharmacy, and a national chain. Approx $44 for each RX, or almost $90! Went to WalMart-$4 for each one.

Their new program which offers one month’s supply of most generic drugs for $4 is amazing!

I have the lowest level Medicare Part D supplement. My net cost for the 2 RXs I needed was $4.10!

Wal-Mart rules, though I do think it is a bit lower quality than top tier grocery stores for meat and produce. I believe their beef is mostly USDA Select, rather than USDA Choice. At least that is what a butcher at Wal-Mart told me. She said it was often leaner, though perhaps not as tender.

Target is also unveiling a $4.00 generic plan. Greg managed to cajole out of the pharmacist a list of the drugs they offer for $4.00 so if anyone wants me to check any for them, pm Greg or me. The last I checked the list wasn't online yet.

On the Target giving rumors: I got copy of the very same email about a year ago from a couple of sources. It is a shame because Target is a good community sponsor. I have hit up Target for a couple of causes in the past few years and they were always very generous.

I personally think WalMart sucks balls and I'd rather pay double than deal with them. I feel the same way about Home Despot. But I recognize that both have a real public, so to each their own.
