At the grocery run this morning, we saw that Sprouts had some prime cuts. I felt like having a steak, plus DW reminded me that we still had a few frozen lobster tails. So, that decided the dinner for today.

Just finished our surf-and-turf dinner. Both steaks and lobster tails cooked on the backyard grill, doused with flavored butter. Darn, it hit the spot.

Rest for a bit now, before going out for a walk around the neighborhood. Walking after the meals is supposed to lower the blood glucose, ya know?

Bad day today, but was dealing with DW and here doc visits and PT schedule.

Breakfast - coffee

Lunch (Denny's) - two eggs, two sausages, one pancake

Dinner (out at the bar - watching games) - chicken strips, fries, water

Later - some ice cream.

No wonder I am gaining some weight

Japanese today - Soba noodle topped with home grown herbs & vegies for lunch, and Tempura & Sushi for dinner at a restuarant. Tempura was badly done - soggy, and flavor less. Rice was too tough. Japanese restaurant run by Chinese --- not a good combination.

What Did You Eat Today?

DH and I went to a Vietnamese restaurant for lunch today. I ordered BBQ chicken with vermicelli and I asked the server to hold the vermicelli, and they did it for me! They added some extra lettuce, cukes, etc. in place of the vermicelli so it was more like a chicken salad. I should have asked them to do this long time ago.

We ate at Nandos this summer in Scotland and loved it (we were a bit tired of pub food at that point) thanks for the tip, I will pick some up!

Breakfast: two rice cakes with goats’ milk cheese flavoured with figs, topped with slices of red and yellow bell peppers. Coffee.

I’m clearing out the fridge and being creative with the dregs of my last grocery shopping expedition.

A pox on you all !! Now I can't think of anything else..

There is a Nandos near our office.. I guess I know what I am taking home for dinner tonight..

must not succumb to the temptation to get some portuguese tarts to go with it for dessert....

Breakfast was bacon and eggs with toasted oatnut bread.

Lunch is some leftover Ahi tuna and rice.

Dinner is a rainbow trout I caught this morning and a nice salad.

Breakfast: strawberry and banana smoothie
Lunch: N/A
Dinner: pulled pork (shoulder), fingerling potatoes with parsley, steamed veggies.

This was the first time I made pulled pork, using my tiny slow cooker ($9). It was utterly delicious. I had two helpings, and I have leftovers for at least two more meals.

I made pesto this morning with the last of the summer basil. Also picked up some pumpkins, butternut squash, spaghetti squash, Ambrosia apples, Anjou pears, sage and dill from the farmers’ market that I like. It’s closing for the season this weekend. I see some butternut squash soup in my future. With sage.

I can't even imagine having this for breakfast, ever.

During Christmas shopping season in NYC my mom would buy me a little bag of hot roasted chestnuts from a sidewalk vendor, and the flavor has always been one of my most cherished memories.

So I was blown away yesterday when I saw these in Costco.

Far cheaper than the sidewalk vendor (at least today) and they taste the same as I remember. Heat them up in the toaster oven for a treat.

We had this last night for dinner: https://fountainavenuekitchen.com/cr...aked-eggplant/. Think eggplant parmesan, oven-baked instead of fried. Very tasty -- I think I'll make it again next week while eggplant is in season.

Family dinner last night--slow roasted ribs and oxtails, then on the smoker to finish.
Along with potatoes, salad and homemade pumpkin bread. Yum.

It's been 11 months since anybody here eats anything. Wow!

I have not had dinner yet, but here's what's for dinner: a salad, followed by pan seared tuna. Of course there has to be some staple dish, meaning carb. For that, a pan of jambalaya is steaming.
