What is the first music record you bought?

The first music I bought was 2 albums; "Meet the Beatles" and The Yardbirds first album which, I think, was "Having a Raveup" but I'm not positive of that.

1st single: Penny Lane/Strawberry Fields Forever
1st album: Mason Williams's Music

Note: There were many great records in our household, that I did not myself buy, but played and enjoyed immensely, before I ever went out to buy my own. I started a collection then that is now huge (vinyl, cassette tape, & digital).

"For What Its Worth" Buffalo Springfield. (CSN)

Walked into the record store with my striped, button fly, hip hugger bell bottoms and see-through puffy sleeved flowered shirt, soft soled, fringed moccasins.

Man I was cool!

Probably around 1942 or 1943... When the only records were "seventy eights".

"In Der Feuhrer's Face"... by Spike Jones... My Christmas Stocking money, and bought at W.T Grant...
Played it over and over and over and over.....

I must be young for this crowd: The Cars-Heartbeat City.

Being the youngest sibling by 6 years, I grew up listening to the tastes (and records) of my elder siblings, which was fine with me (At that age, what the heck did I know about music anyway?)

First album I recall buying on my own was Bridge Over Troubled Waters. Still have it.... someplace.

I know the Beatles' Yesterday was my first single. I think my first album was Cheap Thrills.

My first record came as a gift: Buffalo Springfield
The first record I bought with my own $$ was Steppenwolf, followed soon by Cream Disraeli Gears.

Impressive to an old hippie like myself.

I bought some 45s early on, but couldn't tell you which ones. I believe the first album I bought was Early Steppenwolf, or might have been The Beatles Yesterday and Today, but not the one with the banned cover photo...

Also won a copy of Magical Mystery Tour from a radio station giveaway.

IIRC this was the first album I ever bought, then age 15. I lived in Germany at the time, so it may not have been as popular in the USA. Not that they were my favorite band, that was and will probably always be The Beatles...#1 on my iPod/iTunes.
