Anti-hard drugs, more precisely. After all, he did smoke a lotta grass...
Written by Hoyt Axton, who also wrote Snowblind Friend, from Steppenwolf 7.
Speaking of Steppenwolf 7, the song Renegade is one of my favorite Steppenwolf songs.
Another from the eight-track archives...

Don't think I ever bought a pre-recorded cassette tape, just mixed my own from my LP collection.
Don't remember my first eight-track, but might have been Grand Funk Live...
Live Album (Grand Funk Railroad album) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
First CD was Santana's Greatest Hits. Had the short, "radio" version of Evil Ways...

Bad news, Koogi. If you bought Twisted Sister, then you ARE old enough to have bought records.
It happens I just bought a record 2 weeks ago. Patterson Hood. LIstening to it now. Good stuff!

Yep. Or record the whole album to tape and keep playing it in the car until the "tape stretch" and heat took their toll. Repeat.

I remember getting to pick the cereal at the Commisary (grocery store) when I was about 8 or so and the super sugar crisps had a record on the back of the box that you cut out and played. partridge family I think.

If THOSE count, then my first record was from MAD magazine. And another early favorite was Fonzi's 50s Favorites. It had Charlie Brown, Splish Splash, and-get ready for it-a track teaching kids how to imitate The Fonz!
HEEEYYYYY! Kool. Sit on it!

I didn't include my Mad Magazine records but that's a good point. I had two: "The Burp Song" and "They're coming to take me away"

I never bought albums - couldn't afford it as a teenager. However, my best friend bought me John Lennon's Imagine for a birthday gift. It was the first album I ever owned myself.
I used to listen to my older brother's albums when he was w*rking. I was very careful with them and even more careful to put them back exactly where I pulled the album from, in the sideways stack.
I used his equipment to make cassette tapes for myself, to play in my friends' cars. I also used to record FM radio featured artist specials on cassette.
The first CD I bought, I believe, was an Eric Clapton collection. CRS!
