I'm sitting here at frigging work looking forward to a 3 day weekend. Golf and bbq for me. A few cold ones too. :D I guess for the ones already retired, its always a holiday!  8)

Actually Dog, The ones that are already retired are looking forward to next Tuesday. :)

everything will be back to normal by then. 8)

I look forward to that way of thinking. But I have 19 months to go.  :'(

Dog,

I agree with C-T. Way too busy of a holiday for me and my family to want to get out in it. Traffic - yuck.

Enjoy your holiday, though. :)

I try not going to malls or do much that involves being on the road on the weekends if I can avoid it.  Lots of drivers on the road, parking in most shopping places is horrible, and restaurants are too busy.

Being semi-retired, I tend to work between 8am and 10am then again from 4pm to 6pm because I don't want to be on the road at those times.  I tend to do my shopping between 10am and 4pm.  It's like a different world going to the grocery store during the workweek between those times because being in my 30's I feel like a kid shopping with eveyone's grandparents.  It's a slower pace and slower driving on the roads, but I'm in no rush.

Got the new Jacuzzi fired up, have my new mega-grill all polished and ready to go! What a coincidence, I have 10 friends who all said, "hey, let's get together this weekend!" - spontaneous party! I would not go anywhere this weekend, fight that traffic, especially now that my back yard is a little slice of paradise! :)

Memorial Day weekend, plus a vacation day on Tuesday! Yippee.
We are staying home - avoiding the crush on the freeways, possibly a movie or two, going to barbecue, plus we are house-sitting for two neighbors.

W're gonna BBQ; then watch the Spurs crush the Suns. No driving. No malls. Nothing till Tuesday!

Yep, thats it for me. I walk around a store and wonder "why the hell arent these people at work today? Oh yeah, its one of them there holliday things..."

We'll have our usual ten million family and friends over on sunday like we always do, I'll cook a large portion of the food products produced by the state of california during the month of may. Both of my immediate neighbors packed up their motor homes and disappeared in the last couple of days, so a very quiet weekend in the cul de sac...

This weekend is Memorial day? Gee, without a job to remind me, I nearly forgot. ;)

The difficulties of a new ERee, and still getting paid tooo. :D

PU :)

Very jealous! My DW has it as good as it gets now before ER as far as time off goes(except for teachers). Her company gives out an extra vacation day every year you work for them, and she has been there 8 years now, so now she has 18 days vacation accrual, 8 sick days, and they close for two weeks at x-mas. She decided since she's over 4 weeks on the books right now to take yesterday, today, tomorrow off so she could have a six day weekend. I'm sitting here with about 100 hours of PTO, wishing for the day.

Saturday: Dog to vet, then I'm donating blood. Friends coming over for a BBQ Saturday evening.

Sunday: Movie with friends, then other friends coming over for dinner and a DVD.

Monday: Not a blessed thing. Except laundry. Yeah, laundry.

Feels good to be with the lucky REs here. Since I don't work Mondays anyway I don't really notice it. My fiancee will be home on Monday though, which should be nice. We'll probably do some wedding planning and not much else.

DW is working. I will sleep in and then I will fish until cocktail hour each day. Maybe walk
the dog in a nearby park or forest (no leash and no picking up doo-doo). Might cut the grass, or maybe not. Avoiding anything which might resemble work is on the to-do list every day.

Sunday - #1 daughter is getting married!!!!!!!!!!1 :smitten:

Monday - Hosting BBQ for all who show up. Weather looks better. Nothing is allowed to go wrong!

BUM :D

Celebrating the first 3 days of Retirement!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D  :D Celebrating the first 3 days of Retirement!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D  :D

REW, aka REWa, who retires TOMORROW!!!

Don't hold back, REWa, don't be afraid to share your feelings with us!

I will be at WORK on Monday.

I love to work on days that most people (especially my boss) are not in. Still feels like vacation... will go home early. Save my vacation day when the next product failure is causing all sorts of stress at work, so I can sit back and relax.

Be careful driving to and from work REW. That's just the sort of thing you read about in the paper. Some poor SOB gets in a wreck driving home on his last day...

;)

Friday:  Moving garage sale stuff out of the basement and into the garage.
   Saturday: garage sale, then collapse
Sunday: either go out for brunch or get DH to grill something before he goes to work
Monday: probably go to a baseball game.

Well,
thanks for asking. We are busting out of town on Friday afternoon. Go to our 2nd home about 3 hours away. Hiking, swimming, biking, etc. Fun stuff. Our boy is 9 and he really enjoys doing ths stuff. Esp swimming. We cannot pry him out of the pool. We are not taking a friend this time so it will be a little easaier.

I'll be on the news stuck in a traffic jam. Watch for me!

Saturday - Grooms mom throwing a catered affair for the rehersal dinner. Time to meet the new extended family... probably should get a haircut.

Sunday - Wedding Day My daughter is already on cloud nine. The Emerald Society will be piping! I'll post some pics.

Monday - BBQ for the masses - you're all envited.
Monday night DW and I clean up then open a bottle of champagne.

ITS PARTY TIME

BUM :D

(I'll be the first to say it :D) Congratulations on your last day REW!!!!

We'll be putzing- weeding, laying down mulch (yeah still), housework, remodeling, chatting with neighbors, eating watermelon and grilled meat stuff. :)

>>I guess for the ones already retired, its always a holiday!

Doesn't always seem like a holiday: here are my plans. Saturday I need to finish erecting a 6 wire hi-tensile fence around another 8 acre pasture for my sheep - that'll kill most of the day plus 1/2 of sunday...if I have any energy left I have about 40 tons of manure that needs to be pitchfork edone wheel-barrow full at a time and move to the compost pile...Monday, if all goes well I administer worm meds to all the sheep (80 of them) and trim the hoofs of about 50 of them.

It's still better than sitting in a cubicle all day! :)
