Whats happening to my monitor?

Maybe some one who knows a bit about computers can help me figure out why my monitor screen is covered with scratches,The glass is clean but it looks as though slugs have been crawling all over the glass leaving trails

The monitor is 3yrs old and has View Sonic as a brand name,was bought at Staples.Thanks for any info..

Is a CRT or LCD monitor?

If it's a CRT there could be a problem with the phosphor coating on the inside of glass. It can sluff and when this happens your monitor should be repurposed as a doorstop or yard art.

Thanks Janet your response sounds like a good probability of whats wrong,as for the other replies a total waste of band width.
