I divide my time between 2 forums. This one, of course, and the Railroad Preservation Forum. I have learned a tremendous amount from both forums.
I will occasionally go to the Discuss Cooking forum when DW tells me about the latest outrageous post by this one PITA there

All great replies... Things I wish I'd said.

Something old, something new, something funny, sometimes blue

Great to click on the subjects and find things that interesting and contain more than the tweets that are part of the new world.

Though am still new to the forum, feel like I know everyone. While I do post to other forums, they are few and far between... a tribute to our moderators and the gentility of the members.

It's always fun to get up in the morning, go to ER and find something new... fun, challenging, and something to feel a part of.

BTW... Jeanie recently figured out my username... She's been calling me
"Moldy" for years.

LOL. Great responses.

After I retired, I didn't read or post on this forum much. I had whole lot of things I was catching up. Now, my garage has been cleaned up a bit, my fences have been repainted, threw out a lot of stuff we don't need, .... I have found more time to hang around the forum. Nothing much has changed.

One thing of note: It's the long time regulars & mods who keep this forum as what it is - a great learning place to hang around. So, pat yourselves on the back. You know who you are.

It certainly is easier to pronounce. If it's good enough for her ....

Been a member since 2008. Every forum has its regarded experts, and I always read said experts posts closely, because I can learn a lot from these people. This forum has been a godsend while I was working. It kept me focused on the end game, while continually giving me ideas to banter about my brain.

I don't post much due to my style of writing tends to offend, even though no offence was intended, well, except one thread I created. I got very snarky on that one!

Maybe DAYDREAMER should change to daydreamer? ... just kidding.

I used all caps on one snarky text to our son and that was a mistake.

+1000

I have only been a member here for about 4 years, but I lurked for at least 5 tears before that.

What I learned here helped me to have the courage to RE (tho not as early as many).

But my biggest pleasure is to find a site where we can talk about a myriad of issues without it becoming insulting, political, or just plain nasty.

Hats off to the mods that make that happen.

It is true that your IQ goes up the longer you frequent this forum. Just take a look at long timers posts. Most of the posts are pretty smart as opposed to newbies posts.

It is also true that you become richer faster by reading the long timers posts.

I haven't been on this forum that long, but yes, there are members that I do feel that I know, and yes, I have given out a lot of personal information.

I was trying to handle finances properly before I found this website, i.e. pay off credit cards every month, max out 401(k), don't accumulate debt, an emergency stash but, there was so much - I did not know that I did not know.

This forum is encouraging me to take concrete steps towards the goal.

i don't restrict my reading to the experts ,
the newcomers often ask questions i have never thought about and made choices i have not yet decided to avoid ( or embrace )

my only regret is i didn't stumble onto this site in 2010 , when i was making pivotal decisions in this area .

+2. This forum has made the process of early retirement much easier for my DW and me as a couple. By realizing that there is a community of people here that LBYM and invest their hard earned $ with a purpose in mind, has permitted us to find threads relating to the issue we have at a given time. Examples include getting and paying for health insurance, dealing with those who did not retire early, and moving to a location with a lower COL.

Thanks to the mods and to everyone on board...

I try to remember to use the thanks button.

Once in awhile I think I know everything I need to know about something and then someone pops up with an interesting insight on it. Or they say something that leads me to another thought that is useful.

I assumed you had made up a new short form for I'm older than you and I consider you ancient whenever I see you post. But I do respect my elders!
