I guess a meeting is set. I saw the headline, and it was obvious to me which would be the perfect beer, considering there was talk of lawsuits floating about:

Collaboration Not Litigation Ale :: Beer A Day

Great story behind this, basically two American brewers were distributing a beer named "Salvation", and they realized it when they were expanding into each others territory. So they got together and decided not to get the lawyers involved, and to celebrate, they bottled a blend of the two beers and named it "Collaboration Not Litigation Ale".

BTW, this is a strong, aged, very flavorful ale - not your typical "sit at the bar and have a drink with the guys after work" kind of a knock-it-back beer. Unless you work with people with very discriminating tastes in ale.

PS: I'm pretty surprised no one has started a thread on the political event itself - I kinda decided I wouldn't, as I don't want to get sucked into it, I've got enough distractions already! So, I'm just posting this for the "light side" of the event.

And I was so proud of everyone here.

And yet you did.

Well, let's see how long that lasts.

My choice would be Dos Equis Amber and a nice snack. Perhaps a plate of Oyster Nachos with Habanero Sauce. Followed by a couple of Marlboros on the Portico before everybody hugs and says 'bye.

There was a comment that the WH only stocks domestic beers, Dunno if that is true.

I suppose we could expand that into protectionist policies and the effect on our retirement portfolios, but that should go to the "FIRE Related Political Topics" forum, not "OTHER", IMO.

PBR!

It's got the Washington angle (lots of proposals lately to convene blue ribbon commissions to study this or that)

Gates probably wants to appear to be a "regular guy," and this would also help President Obama, and Officer Crowley looks to actually be a "regular guy," so this fits.

Whatever brand they choose, I hope they drink in moderation-wouldn't want anyone acting stupidly.:D

Can't go wrong with Billy Beer.

Looks like it will be quite the party- and they will apparently be drinking El Presidente beer...

I realize now that I probably was not clear enough. I was attempting to distinguish between the "beer event" and the "political event itself" (the reported B&E, the arrest, the response, etc...). I don't plan on starting a thread on the "political event itself", and you'll have to believe me (or not) that I didn't post this to "bait" those discussions.

I think the responses have been on the light side, a little fun - no harm, right?

BTW, that lady in the background of the Billy Beer ad that T-Al posted looks a little like a younger Hillary, doesn't she? Is that a pants-suit she is wearing?

No, I believe that is a Hartz Mountain Dog Collar...

ERD50, congratulations on post #5000. I see you are now offline. Having some of that ale to celebrate?;)

This would be a good choice.......

Some good choices so far, keep 'em comin'. These guys may be staggering around and having a hug fest before the night is over!

Here's another one from a Domestic Brewery. Maybe they could change the name to "Hop Stoopid-ly"?

Hop Stoopid Ale
So Hoppy that it threatens to remove the enamel from one's teeth.

I heard on the news tonight that the cop prefers Red Stripe and Mr. Gates likes Blue Moon. The Presidents preference wasn't disclosed. I've never heard of either of these beers.

Red Stripe is made in Jamaica - nothing special, just a basic American Light Lager style. OK with a meal, or a hot summer day, but that's about it, IMO. Under other circumstances, and no better beer available, I'll have wine, or water, thanks.

Blue Moon is Coors, trying to do something a bit more interesting. It is a Belgian White style, with some spiciness probably from citrus peel and coriander. I don't really care for the style, so I pass. If you like the style, there are better examples.

I can see the headlines now:

Obama gives Gates, Officer a Shiner
