Why do these boards attract so many Trolls?

I have read other message board systems and for some reason this is "Troll Central"? Why is that? Without getting too deep into the "Dr. Phil" hour on abandonment issues and low self-esteem of the typical Troll.

Are Trolls people, too? And why do people find it necessary to debate a Troll? I think Trolls are like bears. (you shouldn’t feed them) or else they will come back for more later and be even more aggressive and demanding. I think the best thing to do for both is to speak in firm voice “go away and gesture wildly to scare them away”.

Well, actually this board is usually a pretty troll free environment, it's just recently things have been a little more...interesting. Dory adresses it here:
