Why would Dish be checking my credit?

I just received a monitoring alert from TrustedID of a change or inquiry to my credit report. The alert was generated due to a credit inquiry on June 3rd by Dish Network. We cancelled our Dish account 3-4 months ago so why would they be doing an inquiry and is there anything I can do about it?

They are probably going to mail you an offer to start Dish service.
Companies routinely check the credit history of people in order to send pre-approved offers.
It's a soft inquiry so does not affect your rating or credit score.

If you freeze your accounts at the credit reporting bureaus, they can't check your credit report. No one can unless you temporarily lift the freeze.

I'm not certain, but I think Clark Howard said that all freezing and thawing of our credit reports to become free in all states in a few months.

DISH sucks. I have nothing to add to this thread other than I never miss an opportunity to trash DISH. Glad the OP dumped them, I did too. Was going to use SLING until I find out it is owned by DISH. Instead, I went with PHILO for the win! and half the price of Sling!

That's a hard pull if it made it to the credit report. I would inquire about this with Dish, with the information at hand. They may have mis-typed something or someone could be using your information to open an account.
