Wildcard Characters and Explorer

Just wanted to confirm that there is no way to just type in, for example, *.xls into the Explorer address control to have it display all the *.xls files (for example, My Documents\*.xls).

I know I can do a find, but that requires a lot of extra clicks, etc.

You can switch to the search view for the current folder by hitting F3. Also, you can bring up search by hitting "Window key"-f.

I haven't run across a way of setting it up to do what you want, though.
