Wildflower Festival

Every spring, there are numerous "festivals" around the DFW area. You can count on one of two kinds of weather: tornado with softball-sized hail, or "dry heat". Sometimes both...

Richardson, one of the more well-to-do burbs, hosts the Wildflower Festival, held in the area known as the "Telecom Corridor", more aptly named the "Telebomb Corridor", with lots of large, modern buildings that once hosted Nortel and MCI...

Of course, the northern suburbs of Dallas bear only a slight resemblance to Texas...

Today's line-up included Ray Wylie Hubbard and Jerry Jeff Walker. Good day for Texas music.

So, without further ado, a photo or two...

First up, some lunch. What to eat? Maybe a shrimp kabob...

Next up, some tasty buffalo fajitas... CFB, note the bacon-wrapped jalapenos!

Some fresh squeezed lemonade. I passed on the corndog...

After two buffalo fajitas, and a gallon of lemonade, I was too stuffed for any famous Sonny Bryan's BBQ...

A sampling from another booth. Very Texas...

And, the SPAM mobile...

Up next, a little window shopping...

The Toby Keith cowboy hats were a hot item...

What are "stash caps" used for?

And my favorite beer booth...

Did I make a wrong turn?

Texans are an eclectic bunch...

Dallas Cowgirl

T-shirts of note.

No "Keep Austin Weird" shirts spotted; only this...

Not to be outdone, Lubbock now has a slogan. Note the "Screw You, We're From Texas" shirt...

Texas biker chic...

No cameras allowed close to the stages, but there are some microscopic critters up there somewhere...

AA stage...

View Point Bank sponsored the other stage, shown here with the Texas state bird in the background...

A band o' kettle drums, playing a rousing rendition of "Willie and the Poboys"...

Performer in the Dallas Songwriters Assn. tent, watched intently by his immediate family the capacity crowd...

Alas, all good things must come to an end. Nothing left but two lonely Corona bottles...

i.q. test

which item does not belong in the following group of foods?

a) spam
b) corn dogs
c) sausage on a stick
d) beef k-bob
or
e) satay shrimp

careful, it's a trick question.

thanx for the texfest tour, hfwr. i like especially the t-shirts. that could be an entire thread unto itself.

Stash caps have a little hidden pocket for stashing your....stuff. Brilliant idea, cops would never think of looking inside your hat!

My favorite festival going t-shirt has a quote from Davy Crockett on the back:
Quote:
You may all go to Hell and I will go to Texas

the tricky question part was e) satay, because all the other food (or food-like) items are regionally typical american food.

however, the correct answer is a) spam, which rewahoo got, but for the wrong reason.

it's the only item at the fair not served on a stick.

thank you for playing. today's prize will be added to next weeks grand lottery prize winnings.

Wow, that might be the perfect food! Let's see:
1) Pork (related to bacon) . . . Check
2) Battered and fried . . . . . .Check
3) Leaves one hand free . . . . .Check

Now, if it were only intoxicating. Maybe beer-batter?
