Wireless Network Connection Setup Problem

DD had her wireless network working fine at her old location (wireless router plugged directly into network).

She just had the cable connected at her new place, and a Scientific American cable modem installed.

I can connect to her wireless network (via her netgear WGR614v9), but not to the Internet.

I can plug an ethernet cable into the cable modem and access the Internet.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

The first thing I'd do is check the security settings and make sure these gizmos are capable of talking to each other. Also, make sure that the wifi speeds are compatible; a computer with wifi capable only of 11 Mbps -- 802.11b -- can't "talk" to a network configured to only run at 54 Mbps (802.11g).

I got it. Played around, rebooted, and now it's working. I think turning everything on in the right order was the key. Thanks for the help.

"Reboot" is the magic word for computer techs. When all else fails with an electronic gizmo, restart it.
