Yahoo! Mail problems
About an hour ago hundreds of old Yahoo! email messages started showing up in my inbox as new and unread. These date back to 2008 and 2009. Changed my password but it hasn't stopped - 40 to 100 old new messages pop up as new every few minutes. Anyone else using Yahoo! mail having a problem?

I have a yahoo mail account, very low frequency use, checked, did not see anything unusual.

That sounds more like they are restoring something on the server side. Changing your password would not do anything for that. I haven't noticed anything on mine but I rarely ever use it.

No problems on mine. I only use it as a secondary address, things like registering an email on a site where I don't want to give my primary email.

The count is more than 900 and still growing. No way to discern any 'real' new messages I get from the hundreds of zombie (undead!!!) messages.

I've seen Yahoo bring back messages from months past, it was always a singon issue. I'd been logged on another machine, the second machines logon failed (with no error ) then mail went batsh*t crazy.
But it always stopped after a few minutes. That's different I think.

I have seen a bunch of service not available errors on Yahoo email over the past several days. They probably fixed something server side that screwed you up. I hope it doesn't drift my way.

No new e-mails at all showing up in my yahoo mail account, other than spam which were immediately removed. I checked the spam folder and yes, they are all spams so everything is as it should be.
I have no idea what's going on with your yahoo e-mail, REWahoo.

Whatever it is, it has slowed down considerably. Only 'resurrecting' 20 or so messages every 30-40 minutes now.

I found a relatively easy way to avoid that by having the program select all unread messages in the in box, then move them all to a separate folder. The count is nearing 1,500...

Is there an option to delete from server? I know when I have to reinstall my mail reader (getting mails through a browser), I used to keep mail on server. But the first time around I'd get all my emails from the dawn of time. Now I like keep the mail on the server for about 90 days.

Since there is no cost involved in letting them reside on the server I like leaving them in my inbox in case I need one for future reference, which has happened a couple of times.

No. They all display today's date and the time they showed up as unread.
Guess there isn't much reason to save them if I can't determine when they were originally sent, eh....

We're ditching Yahoo in the near future. Too many problems.
I don't think this is widely known, but you can import all of your yahoo mail to gmail. Can do it once, or get new yahoo mail in your gmail. Also, there is a way to import your contacts.

This doesn't directly address the problem, but downloading the email to a better client, either standalone or web, might make it easier to filter the new messages.

I just checked on my Windows 8 computer vs the iPad where I usually read mail, which consolidates the gmail and Yahoo mail. No problems with the Yahoo mail here.
