Great pic's. Caught them in the 80's at Belle Chase in LA when they were still the Confederate air Force. Also visited a dis[lay/museum? near Harlingen back in our RV phase.

heh heh heh - still going strong I see.

Excellent photos! Thanks for posting that. My father was a waist gunner in B-24 Liberators and it's always a pleasure to see these vintage planes in action.

after a 13-year run fort lauderdale has lost its annual air & sea show & fleet week. cited reasons were rising fuel costs, general economic downturn, corporate sponsorship withdrawal.

I didn't make it to the airshow, but I hope to have a chance to go this year. I have been to the CAF museum in Midland, a very interesting place to visit if you like WWII era flying machines.

Funny, they include a photo of one of the vintage aircraft I flew back in the 70's (Midland Airsho 2006 ,third photo). Old? Who, me?....

BTW, the 2008 Airshow is scheduled for September 20 & 21.

The only time I got to see the CAF was at Oskosh in 1976 when I flew a Tri-Pacer out there. Pitched a tent under the wing and woke every morning at 0600 to the sound of a 272 taking off about 100 yards away.
