Yes, I have always put down "engineer", or sometimes a more specific "electrical engineer". There's not enough room for "entrepreneurial engineer working hard for no pay".

In my next 1040, I think I will just put down "retired". That's what my wife has put down for a few years now.

So, I visited the SS website today for the first time this year. The site had changed since the last time I had visited the site. I had to redo my username and password.

One of the security questions to establish my identity was a multiple-choice selection of occupations. I had to choose the occupation that I had used on a previous 1040.
