2018 1040 Tax spreadsheet

I found this website a few months ago and have used it to model some possible changes in our tax situation. I see that he has incorporated what he believes are the changes for 2018 into his spreadsheets

https://sites.google.com/site/excel1...er-new-tax-law

I have seen several folks ask for online calculators to model the impact of changes. Perhaps this is of interest to some people.

That file may be perfectly safe but it's really not good practice to be downloading and using spreadsheets from an anonymous online source. I have my own tax estimator included in my budget spreadsheet and in my case it looks like the changes are minor (new tax brackets and standard deduction changes).

Because all changes that affect me are simply changing numbers (some will go to zero), my current estimated tax spreadsheets will still work thankfully. The numbers have to be updated annually anyway.

I’m relieved because I am using the annualized income method for estimating taxes next year since I expect our 2018 income to be half or less than this year’s income. Safe harbor rules would have me way overpaying estimated taxes.

The tab labeled "Line 44" which is the QD-CG tax calculation appears to be using the 2017 thresholds rather than the top of the 12% bracket. I have emailed the author to see if he concurs.
