Move $10,000 in equity there, make enough free trades to qualify for "Apex" and get $500. Wait something like 9 months. Then leave.

As an added bonus trading no-load funds will go from $18 at Ameritrade to $50(!) at TD Ameritrade!

Is there a high interest money market you can put your money in for 9 months? Cause I can leave my $10,000 at Vanguard and get a "free" $330 in those same 9 months.

Don't know, but you could always buy SHY or TIP.

Or just buy the same VG fund, pay the $50, and still come out ahead.

You could just put some stock shares you already own there, and trade a small amount of it several times, to reach Apex. Like swap 10 shares between XOM, C, etc, with low spread costs.

The thread I posted has other options, including an NTF money market fund.


Anyway, I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything, just thought this was an interesting way to make some $ from a broker that just bought a bunch of clients and then raised their prices.
