Was working on my taxes and was having a bit of a problem with my son's college credit... got that worked out so went to the ACA credit...
The question came up... did anybody else have to file a tax return... well, yes... son made money and also got a few thousand in scholarships... so he has to pay some tax.... so I have to put his income down to figure out ACA credit... come to find out that I got too much....
Here is where the funny part comes in.... I was paid an excess and that shows up as me owing taxes.... but that then triggered that I also get education credits that I did not qualify for since I did not owe any taxes!!!!
Yes, one credit I have to pay back but it triggers a different credit I would not have gotten without this....
A bit strange IMO...
