I received a letter from Healthcare.gov to complete IRS form 8962 to reconcile our Premium Tax Credit for 2018.

This is the first year we have been eligible for an ACA subsidy and the letter is somewhat confusing.

The letter states:

You’re at risk for losing your financial help for 2019 Marketplace coverage and covered services.

1. If you got advance payments of the premium tax credit in a past year and didn't file a tax return with IRS Form 8962, file now.

If a tax return with “IRS Form 8962—Premium Tax Credit” wasn't filed for this household for any past year that advance payments of the premium tax credit were made, it must be filed now.

You should do this immediately even if you don't usually have to file taxes.

If 2018 was the only year we received a subsidy wouldn't the IRS 8962 Form need be processed with our tax return by April 15, 2019 and not immediately?

Does it actually say you need to complete form 8962 for 2018 now, or did you infer that? Because the part you quoted says "past year". 2018 is the current year, not a past year.

To answer your question at the end, the answer is yes. I think you have nothing to worry about or do now, until you file your 2018 taxes.
