Just off the wire, new flash.......

Husband and wife shot dead with husband's gun.
Husband gave a loaded gun to a visiting trusted friend.
He was wrong..... Oh well.
Better luck next time.

Thanks for the offer, but during my working days I was qualified & proficient on the military's .45 cal pistol, M-14s, M-16s, 12-ga shotguns, Mk48 torpedoes, & TOMAHAWK missiles. *(FWIW I was also pretty good with the POSIEDON ICBM.) If I need a weapon then I'll get one, and I'll store it with my MREs & gold bullion.

My family is worth everything to me, and we'd be moving away from the fight as fast as possible. *None of our belongings are worth the risk...

your puny little pop guns won't do you much good if this government decides to round you up. The notion that civilian gun ownership has anything to do with keeping the government honest has got to be one of the easiest myths to see through yet put over on people. It might have been true in the 1780s, but if this government feels threatened by you, they'll just nuke your house, guns and all.

Bosco is absolutely 100% wrong. Why? It's a numbers thing, If you
have very widespread and well-armed citizens, then they are virtually
unbeatable. Of course, you can still nuke the whole population,
but that wouldn't make a lot of sense now would it? But, it depends on what "government" is the most dangerous to life and liberty. In our case, it's our own.
Pogo had it right.

This happens all the time. Guy could use an ice pick or a shovel.
People who want to remove all risk from life are dreamers.
Living is risky. Ask the commuters in London. Okay, a bit hyperbolic, but true at its core.........go ahead and arm the questionably stable. No problem.
I much prefer that to a government that wants to grab your guns.
Prefer to take my chances with the nut jobs I don't know rather
than the nut jobs in government.

Sorry JG, every Shia in Iraq has an AK-47, it only took helicopter gunships to put down their widespread rebellion after the first Iraq war. Just about every country in Europe bans guns, and say what you will abou them, they aren't totalitarian regimes. It bothers me that we are seeing a tactic used too often in the media used on this board, keep repeated a falsehood until people think it's gotta be true.

Just stick with "it's the 2nd amendment to the Constitution", that's all that needs to be said on that. FWIW, I like shooting guns, but I have no illusion I'm going to take out Delta Force with my .357!

Anytime soon, the NRA will probably want to change it's name to NWA, National Weapons Association.
Why settle for automatic weapons, every "red" blooded patriotic home should have it's own Bradley to protect itself against the govemint and marauding masses.

What do you think the odds are that the entire well-armed citizenry thinks alike? More likely, half will fight with the other half (called civil war--last one was really ugly). One side will be on the side of the government. As we have seen with the Iraq debacle, there are people that will support the government no matter how idiotic it behaves.

The ballot box is still a more practical way to effect change, even given the shenanigans that have occurred recently with elections.

Anybody care to speculate why the US has ten times as many prison inmates per capita as Canada or any European nation? More than even Iraq did under Saddam? More than Iran?

Not the case in Canada or Europe, but in Iraq under Saddam and Iran it was more expedient for the regime to shoot (or gas) 'em rather than imprison them...

Re: All Together now,,Gas is Cheap!!

I'm surrounded by folks with guns here in Minnesota.
Population of 5 million - 500,000 deer licenses.
They hunt just about anything with fur or feather - from feral cats to moose and bear.

http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/hunting/index.html

Its a family thing - multi-generation, father-son, mother-daughter,
Grand-pa, pa and sons. Lots of folks have farm roots - there's more to it than
shooting and eating.

Hunters kill 200,00 deer a year here, drivers do a good job also, and we still have too many.

I don't hunt, but I still got ol' blue (Red Ryder) handy.

They do have conceal and carry now. I try not to anger any F150 drivers.

Who needs a gun when you have a 10,000 pound bludgeoning device?*
