Ameriprise to Vanguard

Newbe here....A few years ago with little financial knowledge and approaching the big 50 my wife and I were referred to an Ameriprise FA. The FA did get us out of some bad stocks before they cratered and we are now diversified. Seriously, we did all the insurance evaluation, wills and the such so it was good to get where we are. It seems as if the only growth we have seen though is from money we put in so the current investments need to go somewhere where they will show growth to us.

My company moved the 401K to Vanguard and I'm pleased with the results and based on what I read here would be a good move to move everything to VG or Fidelity. Question is, should I speak to a Vanguard FA to evaluate my current investments to move into the best Vanguard has to offer or just call VG and transfer to similar funds (Virtus, Van Kampen, Oppenheimer)?

I would suggest a detailed posting at Bogleheads. You will get a detailed answer.

Bogleheads :: View topic - Asking Portfolio Questions

I'd also suggest that you read a few books from this list:
