Yeah, I like the idea of America returning to a nation of lumberjacks too, but when you're left with a nation of low wage earners, and when the weak dollar means only foreigners can afford your products, and the trade imbalance implies that people here prefer products made elsewhere, and the baby boomers like us are out fishing while we collect social security checks, where does that leave our economy?

But dot-coms are coming back, so we should be OK

I've been a lumberjack as well as pulled on the greenchain - is fun at age 18 and 19 but I was always happy when college started in sept.

Union wages sure beat pumping gas or stocking shelves.

That was long ago and I sure won't recommend it as a career.

As for the marco view, I like Sephen Roach of Morgan Stanley whenever his stuff posts on the Prudent Bear website.
