I am in the top 10%.... but did poorly on the test...
I owe on our house.... I will probably buy our next car with a loan (if it is still very low).....
I still say what I do when asked...
I am well off, but still far enough away from true FI that it will take me some time to get there... not complaining though....

I don't understand the need to come up with new definitions or tests for being wealthy (there seem to be a lot of blog posts on this recently). If you want a qualitative definition then "boatload of money" will do. If you want a quantitative definition why not use percentile of net worth.

I can also answer all 4 questions which favor my being wealthy. The scoreboard is a moving target because I turn 50 in a few weeks. I am in the top 10% now but will move down to top 25% once I join the 50-59 age group.  I feel so poor now LOL!

Retired in late 2008 at age 45. Cashed in company stock, bought a lot of shares in a big bond fund and am living nicely off its dividends. IRA, SS, and a pension await me at age 60 and later. No kids, no debts.

Damn!. Had to borrow against both places when the PenFed 5/5 loans were at 3% with no fees. There goes our standing in the country club. poor us. I feel about as bad as when my Creditkarma score drops because I'm picking up $400 in bonus money by signing up for a new card

In spite of being in the top 5% on the scoreboard and being pretty confident I can safely FIRE later this year, # 3 was the only question I could answer in my favour.
Interesting but a pretty poor test.

Same here. Turned 40 this year and went from being in the top 5% to only top 25%.
I'm going downhill!!! We're truely in a great depression!!

Not sure how to answer the OP's question. Wealthy as compared to what ? Poor people in third world countries who come to my free clinics ? Yes. Compared to Wall Street guys making $100,000,000 per year? No.

LOL... I had something similar with Creditkarma.... they dropped my score after we paid off our car loan and our mortgage was 'paid off' because we were refinancing... the new mortgage did not show up... these, along with the credit checks because of the refi lowered my score a lot... seems pretty dumb to me...

I guess my answer to #4 of Private Portfolio Manager should change to "'Bout what?" although I do say to friends that I am independently wealthy when pressed because that means I do not need to work any longer.
The wealth grid would be more meaningful if they published the boundaries rather than the medians. I can see that as we age and move into our 70s, we become wealthier according to their table.
We are not only wealthy but also blessed!
