Buffett sez Berkshire Hathaway and S&P 500 very close

Many of us agree that BH is about the same as the S&P500. Buffett agrees.
Quote:
Asked whether he would recommend investing in the S&P 500 (SPX) or his own company, Berkshire Hathaway (BRK)(BRK) Buffett called it a draw. I think the financial result would be very close to the same, Buffett said. ...

Yes, BRK is now too big to beat the S&P.

But when we remember that Berkshire has a big cash cushion, something like 23% of assets, yet still matches the S&P performance, then it is a feat.

And if the market takes a bad tumble, Buffett will get a chance to show his prowess by deploying that cash.

And I believe BH has less dividends and more cap gains so some would favor that approach.

AFASIK , has never paid a dividend. 23% is a lot of cash. The buying power of BRB during the next recession is mind numbing .

I doubt the company will pay a dividend while the 2 old guys at the top are still around.

So statistically, within the next five years.

The odds of Buffett being around in itself is 36%.

Berkshire Hathaway has not beat the S&P over the last 10 years. Much better off with S&P Index since 2008.
