I think this is a critical bit of information. If you have the attitude that you'll do whatever it takes, then I'd say go for it. I left full-time employment a few years ago (at age 47); I was absolutely miserable at the j*b. From a financial perspective, most of the financial calculators I ran said I was good to go, but it was a little close for my conservative taste. I also have a very enjoyable pt j*b that is a bit of a security blanket for me. I decided at the time that I was willing to do whatever it took to leave that miserable situation, and there hasn't been a single minute that I've regretted the decision.
