Really can appreciate the thoughts of Chris and HaHa on these matters. I don't think there is one perfect set of rules for parenting. It's a nice day when we can express how we do it, and recognize the validity of other approaches.

Boy, I guess I hit a nerve with my comments.

As I said earlier, you are free to give your kids as much money as you want.

I stated my opinion. You are free to have a different opinion and you don't need to defend yourself here nor justify your actions to anyone.

If this were my daughter, I don't think I'd do anything to help until she asked me, then I'd ask her just exactly what she would like us to do before proceeding. She's on her own and she's making her own decisions, for good or for bad. Maybe not a good idea to undermine those choices if she's not seen them as being bad. She already paid off one out of three years before refinancing the loan, it sounds like. Two more years of belt-tightening wouldn't have killed her (and presumably she would be getting raises during those years?) and would have taught her a lot.

I believe that it's better to give with warm hands than cold. But only if you can.

You did hit a parental nerve. But really you should just leave things alone and not try to dictate how I should react to you. It's like me telling you that you don't need to comment on every post here! I'm done.

Sorry if I was dictating. Feel free to react in any manner that you like.
