I have a very small amount of money with the local office of a large
national firm. Wish I didn't. Had the cash to invest and there
they were. Sigh! Anyway, the guy I dealt with has moved to a much larger firm. Naturally he wants his clients to come on over. He called
me and left a message which implied he was still working with the
old office on some kind of "transition". I think he was deliberately
trying to confuse people in hopes of snagging their accounts.
I hardly know this guy so I am not moving. However, I did call
and ask about this strange phone message. The guy who runs his old
office called back. Never met him and we had a long conversation.
Near the end he tried to pitch tax-free bonds (yeah, he was
confused). I told him that I paid no federal income taxes at the
corporate level, nor at the personal level. Asked him if he wanted
to know my secret. He did. Told him I had a working wife. He was
amused. I assured him I would call when and if I had some extra
$ or decided to switch investments around. Yeah, when pigs fly :) ......................doubt we will ever speak again as long as my
interest checks keep flowing.
