I don't think it is any one thing, but several things working together. Discipline, planning, delayed gratification, education - yes (and probably more).

But I think the thing that has been most important to me with investing, is acknowledging that I don't know anything. I've found that to be very powerful.

I know too many people who 'know' this or that stock is going to the moon, or this or that stock 'cant' go down, etc. I know nothing - so I diversify.
