I wouldn't say it is over, but will continue to shrink over time. Lots of rich investors like the idea that they can afford hedge funds and will continue to be ripped off.
The hedge funds who trade on computer algorithms will continue to make money, until enough of the other funds employ this strategy.

This market has been tough on hedgies as well. They really have an advantage in a down market with their ability to short.
