How far we've come ... (now what??)

I updated this chart and added the rise off of the 1938 low. That market was doing fine until the Nazis decided to take over Europe. It fell particularly hard when France was invaded in May 1940.

Also I added a 7% slope line which approximates the long term (after inflation) SP500 return.

Hopefully 2013 will be a good year.

Thanks! That one is much better for me as it aligns the Mar 09 low with the Oct 74 low - more or less aligning the two secular bear markets that started in 1966 and 2000.

One could argue that several "recoveries" (from the low) were a lot worse than this one, so far. Maybe I'm predicting too much.
