How to find out when an IRS form will be finalized

Hi all,

I'm going to be preparing a 1041 return for a trust this year. It appears that the IRS has published draft 1041 instructions but not final 1041 instructions.

Any way to find out when the final 1041 instructions will be available? Other than checking every so often?

Also, does anyone know if Form 1041 is supported by Free Fillable Forms?

I don't see it on Free Fillable Forms: https://www.irs.gov/e-file-providers/list-of-available-free-file-fillable-forms

I see it says it's still in draft: https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-dft/i1041--dft.pdf

I'd suggest you call & order one (I'm sure you can do this online) but who knows if there's anyone there to take your call or fill your order.

The instructions are going to be 90%+ similar to those for 2017, so you can use those of 2017 to start learning.

Since this is the first time I'll be filling out a 1041, I wanted to be sure to use final instructions, since the header page on the draft instructions warn that they're probably final but should not be relied upon to file a return.
