I agree with you & the diehards. For MOST people they should stick with the simple books on the diehards site. There may be a few folks (like Brewer?) who are into investing full time, constantly doing research and watching the market. These folks *may* have better and more sophisticated approaches. I'm a big Buffet fan, you could describe him as a buy & hold investor and maybe a value investor (certainly not a momentum investor). But he buys companies, how his strategy would work for someone on a salary with just a few hundred a month to invest is questionable.
I enjoy reading about options, hedges and the like but buy none of them myself directly. My investments are actually pretty boring, which is fine by me.

Or the French Amazon marketplace for $1.68.

$0.99 is just the opening bid. The "Buy it now" price on Ebay is $999.99.
If you click on the French Amazon price, the price is actually 1317.24 Euros, which is over $1000 U.S.

I read Klarman's book from my library. It is good, but a lot of what he does would be hard for someone without his resources to duplicate.
Now for an approach that anyone can use, let me recommend the first investment book I ever read- when I was about 19 or 20 as I remember- How I made $2 Million in the Stock Market- by Nicolas Darvas, a professional ballroom dance teacher and competitive dancer.
Left 2-3* R-2-3 buy G-M
I think he called his approach "Box Theory", perhaps because of his day job.

Apparently there's no reserve, no minimum. They expect it to go for much higher than $0.99.
